More than 47% of South Australian homes already make their own power from rooftop solar. Only about 11% have a battery to keep any of it. The rest is exported for a few cents and bought back at full price after dark, which is exactly when most households actually use it.

The Cheaper Home Batteries discount shrinks at every step of the schedule, and the next one lands on 1 January 2027. That’s roughly $400 off a typical 10kWh system and around $1,000 on a large one, gone. If a battery is on the list for your place in Glenelg, the cheaper window is the one you’re standing in.
A clear price before work starts, so there’s no invoice surprise at the end.

REPS approved installers, no subcontractors, same crew from quote to switch-on.
Every hour your doors are shut costs you money, so commercial work gets handled differently to a house call. We quote the scope upfront, book it around your trading hours where we can, and keep the site tidy enough to open the next morning. Whether that’s a Jetty Road shopfront, a cafe, a salon or an office, the job gets the same licensed crew from quote to sign-off.
Glenelg has been part of Adelaide’s story since 1836, when the colony of South Australia was proclaimed near what’s now Moseley Square, and the old tram line down to the bay still connects it to the CBD today.
That long history means the electrical work varies street to street: heritage cottages and courthouses near the foreshore often still run older wiring and undersized switchboards, while the newer apartments going up along the esplanade and around Jetty Road need clean, compliant fit-outs from day one.
We work on both, and we’ll tell you plainly which category your place falls into before any work starts.
If the lights dip when the kettle or the air conditioner kicks in, the circuit is carrying more than it was built to carry.

If you’re still replacing fuse wire, the board is older than safety switches are and it’s well past due for an upgrade.
Share your project and location. We’ll discuss the scope and arrange a site visit if needed.

Flash Electrical SA runs out of a warehouse at Dudley Park, with crews covering homes and businesses throughout metropolitan Adelaide, plus rural and farm work further out. If you’re closer to the coast or the inner north, we’re already working in your area.
Electricians in metropolitan Adelaide typically charge between $83 and $138 an hour, plus a call-out fee of roughly $55 to $95. As a guide, installing a power point usually runs $140 to $285, a safety switch $190 to $380, and a switchboard upgrade anywhere from $760 to $2,375 depending on the board and the property. Emergency and after-hours work attracts a surcharge. Those are general Adelaide market rates rather than our price list. We quote the job upfront as a fixed price before we start, so you know the number before anyone picks up a tool.
No. Fixed electrical work must be carried out by a licensed electrician in South Australia, as it must everywhere in Australia. That includes installing or moving power points, hardwired light fittings, switches and anything inside the switchboard. Changing a light globe or plugging in an appliance is fine. Doing the rest yourself is illegal, dangerous, and it will void your home insurance if something goes wrong afterwards.
Yes. Your electrician must give you an electronic Certificate of Compliance (eCoC) for most electrical work in South Australia, and you must receive it within 30 days of the job finishing. The certificate confirms the tradesperson is correctly licensed and that the work has been tested, is safe and meets Australian Standards. Keep it, because insurers can refuse a claim if electrical work causes a fire or damage and no certificate exists. You can read the full rules on SA.GOV.AU. We issue one on every job that requires it.
Search the public licensing register run by Consumer and Business Services. It lets anyone check whether a person or company holds a current electrical contractor’s licence before they start work at your place, and it takes about a minute. You can search it at Find a licence holder on the CBS website. Flash Electrical SA is a fully licensed South Australian electrical contractor and REPS approved installer, and we would rather you checked than took our word for it.
A safety switch that trips repeatedly is almost always caused by one of three things: a faulty appliance, moisture getting into a circuit or an outdoor power point, or a genuine wiring fault. To narrow it down, unplug everything on that circuit, reset the switch, then plug items back in one at a time until it trips again. If it trips with nothing plugged in, the fault is in the wiring and needs a licensed electrician. South Australia requires safety switches in new homes and wherever circuits are added or altered, and SA.GOV.AU recommends testing yours twice a year, which is easy to remember if you do it when the clocks change.
The Cheaper Home Batteries Program discount is currently worth roughly $2,500 on a typical 10kWh battery, and it steps down again on 1 January 2027. The exact amount is set by the rate in force on the day your battery is installed and tapers on larger systems, so a 25kWh system does not attract two and a half times the discount of a 10kWh one. It is a federal program, so it applies in Glenelg the same as anywhere else in South Australia. Full eligibility details are on the Australian Government energy.gov.au site.
Repairs to the property’s own wiring, switchboard and fixed fittings are generally the landlord’s responsibility, and they are normally arranged through the property manager rather than by the tenant directly. Faults with your own appliances are yours. If something is unsafe, report it to your agent straight away and ask them to book a licensed electrician. We are happy to deal with a property manager or landlord directly once they have given the go-ahead.
Regularly. A lot of the housing close to the Glenelg foreshore is older stock with ageing wiring, undersized switchboards and sometimes ceramic fuses still in service. Bringing that up to a current, safe standard without tearing the place apart is routine work for us, and it is usually the first thing worth doing before adding solar, a battery or air conditioning to an older home.
