Battery Rebate Program
Cheaper Home Batteries Program – Launching 1 July 2025
From 1 July 2025, the Australian Government is launching the $2.3 billion Cheaper Home Batteries Program to help households, small businesses, and community facilities reduce energy costs and increase energy independence.
Eligible participants will receive an upfront discount of approximately 30% on the cost of installing a small-scale battery system. This initiative makes it easier to store solar energy generated during the day and use it during peak demand — lowering your electricity bills and reliance on the grid.
Key Benefits
Significant Savings
Enjoy around 30% off the total cost of your battery installation.
Greater Energy Independence
Use stored solar power when the sun isn’t shining, reducing your reliance on the grid.
Positive Environmental Impact
Reduce your carbon footprint by making better use of clean, renewable energy.
Eligibility Criteria
Installation Date: Batteries must be installed on or after 1 July 2025.
Approved Products: Only batteries listed on the Clean Energy Council’s approved list are eligible.
System Size: The rebate applies to small-scale systems, typically up to 50kWh.
The rebate will be automatically applied at the point of sale by participating solar and battery retailers and installers. To access the rebate, make sure you choose a provider accredited under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES).
